Cushions

Paladin offers four high-quality seat cushion, back, and accent pillow options. Spring Blend Down (SBD) with Blend Down Backs and Feather-Down accent pillows is standard if no cushioning preference is specified. All cushion options are available at no additional charge.

STANDARD – SBD with BLEND DOWN backs and FEATHER-DOWN accent pillows

Paladin is proud to offer three high-quality seat cushion, back and accent pillow options. The following is the standard if no cushioning preference is specified.

SPRING BLEND DOWN (SBD) CUSHION

The “Spring Blend Down” cushion a.k.a. SBD was designed for a softer initial feel but to be highly supportive once compressed. To achieve this, the heart of the cushion is a Marshall coil spring unit made with 14 gauge tempered steel springs that are individually wrapped and mechanically tied together to create a complete innerspring core. The spring core is then wrapped top and bottom with a 30 oz. foam cap. The final cushion is then encased in a tightly woven channeled envelope of high-quality down-proof ticking, and filled with a luxurious 50% blend of feather and down, and 50% super slick conjugated fiber.

The final product provides a smooth elevator type of ride as each material layer yields its benefit as the weight is distributed. The first level of comfort comes from the slow release of air from the down-proof ticked envelope. The second level comes from the compression of the feather-down and fiber layer and the air stored within. Lastly, you will feel the plush support of the innersprings as they equally distribute the weight across the cushion.

BLEND DOWN backs with FEATHER-DOWN accent pillows

The BDB “Blend Down Back” cushion is the marriage of our conjugated (corkscrew-shaped) 100% polyester fiber and feathers and down. It is a mixture of 90% fiber and 10% feathers and down enclosed in a 50% cotton and 50% polyester down-proof casing. This combination of materials produces a denser cushion that releases air slowly, departs a rich crinkling sound because of the down-proof ticking and is highly adjustable and supportive.

Our Accent pillows are filled with a 100% Ultraclean™ hypoallergenic feather and down mixture that is encased in a 100% cotton down-proof exterior.

OPTIONAL – CPC Seats/Micro denier Backs/Feather-Down Accent Pillows

CPC, Comfort Plus Cushion, is an optional seat, back and accent pillow construction that is only available as a complete package. To option this construction, you must specify so on your order. Fiber-filled toss pillows can be substituted but must be specified on order.

COMFORT PLUS (CPC) CUSHION PACKAGE

The Comfort Plus system is especially designed to stand the test of time while offering the plush look and feel of luxurious seating, a hallmark only found in better upholstery.

At the core of the Comfort Plus seat cushion’s construction are individually pocketed coil springs, each one placed by hand. Top-quality polyurethane foam bonded with fiber banded around coils gives the seat superior contour and shape.

The Comfort Plus seat cushion is then wrapped with a blanket of low melt fibers and covered with a down-proof tick which allows the flow of air to work in harmony with the fibers to create a seat cushion that has the look, the feel, the weight and the crunch of a spring down seat without the down. Therefore, there are no hypo-allergenic issues usually associated with down and no feathers working their way out of the cushion over a period of time.

The Comfort Plus backs are comprised of micro-denier fibers blown into channels allowing the air to mix in with the fibers, resulting in a “sink in” feel of down, but without the feathers. Again, because the fibers have memory, they will return over and over again to their original shape after sitting in them.

OPTIONAL – FCC with FIBER FILL backs

Feather Down Accent Pillows are Standard. Fiber Filled Accent pillows are available upon request. FCC seats and backs are optional seat cushion and back cushion constructions. To option either
construction you must specify so on your order.

FULL COMFORT (FCC) CUSHION

The “Full Comfort Cushion” a.k.a. FCC was designed for the more traditionally minded. The FCC is simply that – Full Comfort. At the heart is a 2.1 density polyurethane core with a bonded low-density polyurethane crown. The cushion is then generously wrapped with a layer of 2.5 oz. low melt fiber and then wrapped in a polyester casing. This marriage of foam and fiber results in a fully filled, highly crowned cushion with excellent long term comfort, durability, and a traditional appearance.

FIBER FILL backs

Our 100% Fiber Fill back cushions represent the pinnacle of fiber technology. It is a conjugated (corkscrew-shaped) 100% polyester fiber approximately two inches long that has been siliconized. Each fiber is bathed in silicone, then crimped seven times per inch and finally combed out to its finished length. The fiber is then encased in a non-woven polyester envelope that is channeled for improved comfort and ease of maintenance. This process creates a finished product that behaves like thousands of tiny springs that has great conformity, is easily adjustable and provides extraordinary comfort.

FIBER FILL TOSS PILLOWS – must be specified, otherwise, feather-down mixture is standard fill.

OPTIONAL – PLATINUM

(THIS CUSHION IS RESTRICTED TO SLIP COVER STYLES ONLY) Platinum is an optional seat, back and accent pillow construction that is only available as a complete package. PLATINUM – Seat, Back & Accent Cushion Package

Our “Platinum Cushioning” is exactly that, our top of the line premium cushioning. It is engineered to be used as a complete cushion package so the seats, backs and pillows all work in unison to yield that ultimate “in the lap of luxury” comfort. The foundation of the Platinum package is the seat cushion. We start with a 2.3 lb high density, high resilience foam core. The core is then surrounded by a specially designed blanket with a 100% cotton down-proof exterior and filled with a mix of 50% regenerated fiber and 50% feathers and down. This mixture of premium fill brings together the optimum characteristics of each component to yield the perfect combination of comfort, support, and softness. All of the feathers and down used go through a ten-step Ultraclean™ process that results in a completely hypoallergenic natural fill. The regenerated fiber is a high-performance fiber made from polyester that is re-manufactured from recycled post-consumer containers and helps lessen the environmental footprint of the piece. Lastly, the outer blanket has special baffles or channels that are sewn in, similar to a comforter or down jacket. These special channels allow the different areas of the cushion to be filled with different weight rations to give better comfort and support and also help keep the feathers, down and fiber evenly distributed.

The rest of the Platinum seating package utilizes the same premium fills used in the seats. The back cushions are made with the 50% regenerated fiber and 50% Ultraclean™ hypoallergenic feathers and down encased in the 100% cotton down-proof exterior which is again channeled to give superior weight distribution, comfort and ease of upkeep. The accent pillows are filled with 100% Ultraclean™ hypoallergenic feathers and down encased in the 100% cotton down-proof exterior. The classic softness and conformity of these blends allow the cushions to be fluffed and adjusted to conform to the body and provide extraordinary support and comfort.

OPTIONAL – Dream Luxe (DLX) (Memory Foam Seats)

Dream Luxe Package – Dream Luxe Seats (memory foam)/ CPC Backs (Microdenier) / Feather Down Accent Toss Pillows. Fiber filled toss pillows can be substituted but must be specified on order.

At the heart of the Dream Luxe seat cushion is a 1.8 oz polyurethane core. The top and bottom are capped with 2.5 lb. memory foam and the entire seat is wrapped in 2 oz. Endoloft fiber and all of this is encased in down-proof ticking.
